Moving forward together

by

It is now mid-December, and the end of the year is fast approaching. As ever, the pre-Christmas season is also a time of encounters and togetherness.

Strings of lights and candles illuminate . Christmas markets draw people into town and city centres with tasty treats, hot drinks, fairground rides and a wide variety of goods. Companies and clubs hold their annual Christmas parties. At home, people bake biscuits, write Christmas cards and wish lists, plan elaborate menus for the holidays, decorate their Christmas trees and wrap presents. In short, there is always plenty to do in December.

It is also a particularly busy time each year for translators and language service providers. Even in the current climate, with many companies looking to save time and money by using AI, we are still seeing a large number of last-minute projects in December that need to be completed before the year is out.

To ensure that we, as a language service provider, can continue to meet our customers’ translation needs reliably and quickly, at attractive prices and with our usual level of quality, the latest technologies naturally play an important role for us as well. It goes without saying that many of the freelance translators who work with us feel the same way.

In order to gain new perspectives, encourage mutual exchange and, incidentally, counteract the isolation that is typical of the translation profession, we began offering regular online meetings on current issues and topics in the autumn. These meetings provide an opportunity to exchange ideas with our translators about issues that affect us all in our work.

We are looking forward to further meetings in the new year and to many opportunities to put faces to the names of translators with whom we are usually only in contact by email. In the spirit of the pre-Christmas season, we are therefore ensuring that the “human factor” remains in focus despite AI.
